COVID19 Corona Virus Hotspots in India announced

Government of India has identified ten hotspots of coronavirus COVID19 in India.

The 10 hotspots of coronavirus in India are Dilshad Garden, Nizamuddin, Noida, Meerut, Bhilwara, Ahmedabad, Kasaragode, Pathanamthitta, Mumbai and Pune.

These places has been identified as hotspots as they has reported 227 deaths and 5 more deaths in the last 24 hours.


Ration Shop in Kerala during Lock down Covid19

Government of Kerala ha announced a pattern for purchase of ration from ration shops in the state. From April 1st onwards, those with ration card number ending 0 and 1 can buy the rice on the first day (Wednesday). Similarly the following pattern has to be maintained

April 1 - Card number ending in 0,1
April 2 - Card number ending in 2,3
April 3 - Card number ending in 4,5
April 4 - Card number ending in 6,7
April 5 - Card number ending in 8,9


Priority card holders (yellow and pink cards) can purchase rice from ration shops from morning till noon, while the non-priority card holders (blue and white cards) can approach the shops in the afternoon. At a time only five persons will be allowed inside the shop.

Instructions for being home quarantined

The home quarantined person should:
Stay in a well-ventilated single-room preferably with an attached/separate toilet. If another
family member needs to stay in the same room, it’s advisable to maintain a distance of at
least 1 meter between the two.
• Needs to stay away from elderly people, pregnant women, children and persons with
co-morbidities within the household.
• Restrict his/her movement within the house.
• Under no circumstances attend any social/religious gathering e.g. wedding,
condolences, etc.
He should also follow the under mentioned public health measures at all times:
• Wash hand as often thoroughly with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand
sanitizer
• Avoid sharing household items e.g. dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils,
towels, bedding, or other items with other people at home.
• Wear a surgical mask at all the time. The mask should be changed every 6-8 hours
and disposedoff.Disposable masks are never to be reused.
• Masks used by patients / care givers/ close contacts during home care should be
disinfected using ordinary bleach solution (5%) or sodium hypochlorite solution (1%)
and then disposed of either by burning or deep burial.
• Used mask should be considered as potentially infected.
• If symptoms appear (cough/fever/difficulty in breathing), he/she should immediately
inform the nearest health centre or call 011-23978046.
Instructions for the family members of persons being home quarantined
• Only an assigned family member should be tasked with taking care of the such
person
• Avoid shaking the soiled linen or direct contact with skin
• Use disposable gloves when cleaning the surfaces or handling soiled linen
• Wash hands after removing gloves
• Visitors should not be allowed
• In case the person being quarantined becomes symptomatic, all his close contacts
will be home quarantined (for 14 days) and followed up for an additional 14days
or till the report of such case turns out negative on lab testing



Environmental sanitation
a) Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in the quarantined person’s room (e.g.
bed frames, tables etc.) daily with 1%Sodium Hypochlorite Solution.
b) Clean and disinfect toilet surfaces daily with regular household bleach solution/phenolic
disinfectants
c) Clean the clothes and other linen used by the person separately using common household
detergent and dry.

Postman to deliver money at your doorsteps

The Department of Post will deliver money at doorsteps at the time of lockdown, the Postmaster General of Kerala has announced. The Government of Kerala has also issued an order regarding this.

To avail this service, people has to inform their local post office about the money they require from their bank accounts. This money will be then transferred to their respective post office savings accounts. The money will be inturn delivered to their homes. This is expected to reduce the difficulties experienced by the citizens in accessing the ATMs, bank branches and also help in reducing the crowd at ATMs.

Kerala's first Sanitizer Tunnels installed at Thrissur

Thrissur, April 8, 2020: Kerala's first sanitizer tunnel has been opened at Thrissur. Two tunnels which has been installed at Thrissur near vegetable market at Sakthan Thampuran Bus stand and at Thrissur General Hospital, near Round.

The tunnel will spray hypochlorite solution to people who walks through them.

Similar santizer tunnels will be installed at Irinjalakuda, Chalakudy, Chavakkad and Thrissur Medical College.

Zomato India has announced the company has begun online grocery delivery in more than 80 cities in India. The expansion of online delivery of groceries results from Covid-19 lockdown. 

 Zomato has also teamed up with SupplyCo for online delivery and delivery of  groceries will be available in cities such as Kochi, Trivandrum, Kottayam and Thrissur in Kerala.

The Kerala Motor Vehicle Department has submitted recommendations for travelling in private and public transport in the state after the lockdown is lifted.

Some of the recommendations is as follows:
Air conditioning should not be allowed in vehicles. Window glasses should be kept open.

Only a driver and two passengers will be allowed to travel in a car.

Curtains, bedsheets and food distribution will not be available in buses.

Odd even registrations number system will be implemented.

All passengers in the public transport should wear masks

Interstate buses should be disinfected at checkposts before entering the state.

Zoom has become one of the trending apps during this Covid19 lock down time. Zoom online video conferencing software is easier to use both in personal computers, tablets, smart TVs and smartphones. Here is a small tutorial on how to use Zoom for online meetings.

First download Zoom app in your PC or smartphones. Zoom can be downloaded from the following link https://zoom.us/download  

After downloading you have to create an account in Zoom by clicking the Sign in button. A sign in is only required if you are planning to convene a meeting. If you are plan to join a meeting as a participant sign in is not necessary.

You can sign up for a free Zoom account at http://zoom.us/signup



Join a meeting
To join a meeting, you have to click on the Join button on the top left corner of the app. Provide the meeting ID there. The meeting ID can be obtained from the person who is convening the meeting. You will be directed to the meeting window in a second or two. You may also join a meeting by going to join.zoom.us and entering in the meeting ID. You can join computer/device audio by clicking Join Audio, Video etc. Audio/Video can be muted by clicking the relevant buttons.

Schedule a meeting
If you plan to call for a meeting you can do so by the Zoom Desktop client or mobile app by clicking the new meeting icon (orange in colour) You will be provided with a personal meeting ID. You have to share the personal meeting ID with your fellow participants for them to join. The personal meeting ID can be shared by going to the Meetings menu and sending invitations through GMail, Messagge, Whatsapp, Messenger etc.

7 Districts in Red Zone, Thrissur in Orange Zone, Kozhikode in Green Zone Covid-19

The Union Health Ministry has identified seven districts in Kerala as COVID-19 hotspots and included them in the 'Red Zone' category where the risk of coronavirus spread remains very high.

Red Zone
Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram.

Orange Zone
Six districts in the state—Thrissur, Palakkad, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kollam—have been incuded in non-hotspot 'Orange Zone'

Green Zone
Kozhikode is the only district in the 'Green Zone'.

Districts witnessing high number of cases or high growth rate of infections are being marked as hotspots; districts where some cases have been found as non-hotspots; and those which have reported no cases as green zones.
